David Spencer

Hello, let me tell you about myself. My wife LeeAnn and I have been visiting friends and relatives in Gold River since it was first built. We liked it so much, that we moved here in 2010. I operate my company, SacBusiness – a digital marketing agency – out of our home in Marshall Village.

My qualifications for this GRCA leadership role are as follows: currently Vice-Chair for the Fulton Avenue Association, currently Director for the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce, former Vice-President of Promontory Point Village (HOA), former President of the Marshall Village (HOA) and Website Committee Chair for GRCA.

During my time as a director for the Fulton Avenue Association, we put in a new water main, buried the utility lines and installed a median down Fulton Avenue for beautification. Also on Fulton Avenue we contract with a security patrol service to keep crime down and mediate the homeless. We also contract with a cleaning service to keep the district free of trash.

While I was President at Marshall Village, we replaced all the broken and rotted SMUD box covers with new ones made of metal that will last forever. We also installed new, larger house numbers that were easier to read from the street. And we reviewed the state of the entire village replacing rotted fences, dead landscaping, grinding sidewalk trip hazards and many long-deferred maintenance items. All while leaving the village fully-funded with reserves.

In business and in life, I practice “The Four C’s”:  Community, Continuity, Communications and Common Sense.

Community: My wife and I decided to live here because of the accomplished and friendly people who call Gold River home. We also like the fact that Robert Powell built a beautiful community with a park-like setting to it. We have a great community group called The Villagers. This group, along with the Gold River lifestyle, should be maintained for future enjoyment.

Continuity: In my role as Website advisor to the Board, I have provided various recommendations to the Board and management to enhance the Gold River website and emphasize the Gold River brand.

Communications: Do you remember when we had a Gold River newsletter? I do. It’s time to bring it back in electronic form. Personally, I’m not satisfied with the current GRCA website. We can do better.

Common Sense: This is an important one to me. While there are rules in Gold River, it’s important to be reasonable about enforcement of those rules. If a Village fines a homeowner, that’s a sign of a failure to communicate. We can do better than that.

Thank you for reading my candidate statement for the GRCA Board of Directors.  I would appreciate your vote.
